Role-play needs a setup. A costume alone is decoration. The rooms worth your time announce a character, a scene or a story, and then stay in it.
Cosplay rooms range from careful costume work to a quick wig and a theme night. Both can be fun. What separates them is commitment: does the performer answer in character, does the set match, does the story move when the room tips toward a goal.
A few habits help. Read the room topic before you type, because most performers write the scenario there. Play along instead of breaking the scene with off-topic requests. Ask for a specific character only if the menu says requests are open.

Can I suggest a scenario to a role-play performer?
Yes, if the room says requests are open. Many performers already have a scene running and would rather you join it, so read the topic line before you pitch. Keep a suggestion short and leave the performer room to shape it.
Is it rude to break character in a role-play room?
It can derail the show for everyone. Off-topic questions pull the performer out of a scene the rest of the room is enjoying. If you need to ask something practical, keep it brief and step back into the story.
Do cosplay performers take requests for specific characters?
Some do, often as a menu item or a goal for a future theme night. Costumes take time to prepare, so a request rarely happens on the spot. Check the menu or ask politely about upcoming themes.
